41-Year-Old Motorcyclist Identified from Fatal Crash on East Santa Clara Street

 
SAN JOSE, CA (March 6, 2018) – The identity of the man killed in a motorcycle-car collision on the intersection of Ninth Street and East Santa Clara Street on Tuesday, has been confirmed.
 
Jeffery Hanley, 41, was riding a Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Ninth St, at around 7:35 PM, when the bike collided with a silver Nissan Altima that was making a left from Ninth onto Santa Clara. Hanley was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
 
He was later pronounced dead by medical professionals.
 
According to the San Jose Police Department, the motorcycle Hanley was riding was reported to be stolen. But friends of Hanley assured that he had borrowed the motorcycle and was not aware that it had been stolen. Police preferred not to comment on how Hanley obtained the motorcycle but stated that Hanley was not considered a suspect when he died.
 
The 18-year-old man driving the Nissan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. There is no information on his identity, or if charges will be filed.
