Gary Circle Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash in Rancho Cordova

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (January 19, 2020) – An elderly woman was killed after a car crashed into a home Sunday afternoon in Rancho Cordova.

The crash happened around 4:30 p.m., on the corner of Georgetown Drive and Coloma Road.

A dark purple Kia Optima, driven by 45-year-old Gary Circle of Rancho Cordova, had been traveling recklessly and was passing cars at an unsafe speed on Coloma Road. The car then drove across the home’s front yard and into the living room.

Three family members watching football inside were struck by the car. One female victim died as a result of her injuries. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office later identified her as 81-year-old Janice Williams.

A man and his wife were seriously injured.

Two minors, ages 4 and 12, were also in the back of the suspect vehicle. However, those minors remained uninjured.

Police arrested Circle and booked him into the Sacramento County Jail. Prosecutors filed four counts of driving under the influence causing injury and two counts of child endangerment, one each for the children in Circle’s car.

We would like to extend our sincere sympathies to the bereaved family and friends of Janice Williams.
