San Diego Pursuit Ends in Auto Accident on 35th Street and Orange Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 11, 2022) – Sunday morning, authorities arrested Jamie Bender after a police chase crash on 35th Street and Orange Avenue.
The incident happened at around 8:50 a.m. on 35th Street and Orange Avenue.
According to reports, the chase began near Serra Mesa when Bender ran a red light south of El Cajon Boulevard. Then, she crashed into an SUV.
An undercover San Diego County Sheriff’s deputy monitored a stolen Toyota Tacoma on Escondido Avenue. Then, they noticed a female enter the truck and leave the area.
Thus, the deputy followed her and called for marked Sheriff’s vehicles to assist. As the deputies tried to stop the truck, Jamie Bender fled at a high rate of speed, ending up on southbound Interstate 15.

As she run the red light at the City Heights intersection, she struck a Toyota SUV on the driver’s side. Then, the SUV crashed with a Toyota Prius.
The impact forced the Tacoma to veer off the road and strike two electrical junction boxes before banging into a metal fence. Then, the impact sent one of the boxes into another vehicle, damaging the vehicle in the process.
After the crash, authorities detained Bender who they suspected of being under the influence of a narcotic. Responders took her to a local hospital due to the possible drug use and for minor injuries.
The male SUV occupant remained alert and speaking. Meanwhile, the Prius’ male driver complained of pain. However, he refused hospitalization.
Furthermore, the SUV driver’s injuries were minor and responders took him to Scripps Mercy Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, authorities booked 25-year-old Jamie Bender into the Las Colinas Detention Facility on multiple felony charges, including vehicle theft. Her bail was set at $100,000.
