Two Dead and Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash near Walker Road
SONOMA COUNTY, CA (October 1, 2018) – Two people were killed late Monday morning and a woman was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash on Valley Ford Road. The deceased victims were later identified as 57-year-old James Wheelock of Petaluma and 66-year-old Carl Levine of Santa Rosa.
According to the Redwood Empire Dispatch Communications Authority, the incident took place at about 11:27 AM near Walker Road. A Nissan pickup truck was heading west on Valley Ford Road when a Lexus made a left turn directly onto its path.
Wheelock and Levine were trapped in the pickup and had to be extricated from the wrecked vehicle. Unfortunately, they both succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the 72-year-old Lexus driver was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries. Updates on her current medical condition were not immediately available.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. No other information has been disclosed to the public at this time.
