Kitsap Shuttle Driver Killed in Fiery Crash near Southeast Mullenix Road

BURLEY, WA (November 19, 2018) – A man was killed late Monday morning following a bus accident near Southeast Mullenix Road. The victim was later identified as 75-year-old James Kingston, a resident of Port Orchard.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 10:30 AM. A Bremerton-Kitsap Airporter bus, driven by Kingston, was heading north on Highway 16 when it left the roadway, went up the embankment, and slammed into a tree.

Police officers responded to the scene and found the bus fully engulfed in flames. Unfortunately, Kingston was fatally injured in the accident and was pronounced dead by emergency crews. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the victim was secured in a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
