FAA and NTSB Investigate a Fatal Plane Crash on Martis Valley near Truckee

 
Truckee, CA (June 15, 2021) – Tuesday morning, James Harrell, 24, of Sacramento died, and a passenger sustained injuries after a plane crash on Martis Valley.
 
The fatal plane crash in Truckee happened at 10:45 a.m. on June 15.
 
The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Cirrus SR20 crashed near Lahontan shortly after taking off from the Truckee-Tahoe Airport.
 
Reportedly, two people were on board and the plane’s emergency parachute deployed.
 
Moreover, the Truckee Tahoe Airport District said one of the pilots died at the scene while the other pilot was injured and flown by EMS helicopter to Renown Medical.
 
The cause of the Truckee plane crash remains under investigation.
 
Further, the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
