Son Injured After Falling From Truck, James Fowler Arrested for DUI Crash in Apple Valley
Apple Valley, CA (June 23, 2020)– Jason Fowler was arrested for DUI after his son fell from the truck and was hit by a vehicle on Monday morning.
The incident took place on June 22 at about 1:30 a.m. in the area of Thunderbird and Cheyenne Roads.
James Fowler, 46, of Apple Valley was drinking with his two sons ages 15 and 22 before the incident. Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jackie Alban said that Fowler was heading westbound on Thunderbird Road. His 15-year-old son was inside the vehicle while the 22-year-old son was in the bed of the truck.
Alban said that all three of them had been drinking.
The 22-year-old was attempting to enter the cab of the truck while Fowler was driving. However, the son fell onto the roadway and was struck by another oncoming vehicle.
Alban further reported that the oncoming vehicle did not see the subject on the roadway thus, he was run over.
Emergency crews immediately requested a helicopter to airlift the 22-year-old son from St. Mary’s hospital to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center.
Fowler was then arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for DUI causing bodily injury.
Moreover, the 15-year-old son was released to his mother. Furthermore, the driver of another vehicle involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
