1 Killed and Jamal McCoy Arrested in Moreno Valley Auto Accident on Iris Avenue and Camino Flores

 
MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 27, 2021) – Tuesday night, authorities arrested Jamal McCoy after a fatal hit-and-run crash on Iris Avenue.
 
According to Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at around 11:47 p.m. Moreover, it occurred near the intersection of Iris Avenue and Camino Flores.
 
Reports revealed that a BMW 325i attempted to make a left turn from Iris Avenue towards Camino Flores. Then, it struck the driver’s side of a westbound Toyota that ran a red light at the intersection.
 
The force of the crash pushed the Toyota to struck a light pole until it started catching fire.
 
Furthermore, authorities said that the BMW driver fled on foot northbound on Camino Flores.
 
Meanwhile, Cal Fire and Riverside County Fire crews rushed to the scene to put out the fire. Also, paramedics pronounced the Toyota driver, dead at the scene.
 
Also, the officers traced the ownership of the BMW to a man named Jamal McCoy of Moreno Valley. Sheriff’s Department deputies arrested the suspect at his home on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
 
The events leading to the crash are under investigation.
