James Jacobs III Involved in Traffic Crash in Modesto
Modesto, CA (January 19, 2023) – On Thursday, Jackson Upton, 19, of Modesto, died, while James Jacobs III, 19, also of Modesto, sustained injuries in a Jackson Road vehicle collision.
The fatal collision happened at about 4:13 p.m. in the area of Bacon Road.
Reports said James Jacobs III was driving a southbound Honda CRV on Jackson Road when he missed the stop sign at the intersection. The vehicle drove directly into the path of an eastbound Dodge RAM that did not have a stop sign.
As a result, the RAM collided with the right side of the Honda. Then, the two vehicles continued off the roadway into an almond orchard.
Unfortunately, a Honda passenger, Jackson Upton, died at the crash scene.
Moreover, James Jacobs III sustained significant injuries and was airlifted to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. The RAM driver, a 62-year-old Salida man incurred minor injuries
Investigating officers said both Jacobs and Upton were not wearing seat belts at the time of the fatal crash.
CHP is investigating the fatal crash in Modesto.
