Ivan Sepulveda Dies in High-Speed Accident on Alisal Road Near Hartnell Road

 
SALINAS, CA (April 2, 2019) – An 18-year-old man died after crashing into a pole on Alisal Road near Hartnell Road Saturday.
 
Ivan Sepulveda, of Salinas, died in the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 12:01 a.m.
 
According to news reports, deputies noticed two cars driving recklessly near Williams Road. One driver pulled over; however, Ivan Sepulveda did not.
 
Sepulveda sped south on Bardin Road, leading police on a chase. Subsequently, he steered his 2011 Lexus onto Alisal Road, yet lost control and overturned before striking a utility pole.
 
Per the Sheriff’s Office, Sepulveda failed to wear his seat belt at the time of the accident. Unfortunately, he suffered fatal injuries at the hospital after being ejected from his car.
 
A 17-year-old passenger in his vehicle suffered minor injuries.
 
At this time, it is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role, but the California Highway Patrol is investigating further.
