Israel Lara Dies, Several Injured in Collision on Highway 180 [Sanger, CA]

Fresno County, CA (August 08, 2021) – On Saturday, Israel Lara, 60, died in a three-vehicle collision on Highway 180, while others sustained injuries.

The fatal Sanger crash took place at about 2:20 p.m. at the intersection of Oliver Avenue near Sanger.

Investigating officers said the decedent drove his Ford Escort southbound on Oliver Avenue. Then, his vehicle stopped at the intersection, directly into the path of a westbound vehicle on Highway 180.

Indeed, a white Hyundai Tucson driven by a man in 40s struck the Escort on the driver-side door.

Subsequently, a man in 30s driving a Ford Econoline van was unable to avoid the Hyundai and struck it.

Moreover, all of the three vehicles rested on Oliver Avenue’s northwest side, north of the highway.

Officers pronounced the Escort man, Mr. Lara, dead at the scene. The authorities withheld his identity pending family notification until Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rescue team took the occupants in the other two vehicles to a local hospital for suffering minor injuries.

The authorities are still investigating the deadly collision on Highway 180.
