2 Men Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash on I-80

Elko, NV (September 2, 2022) On August 19, 2 men died in a solo-van crash on Interstate 80 about 14 miles west of Wendover.

The Nevada Highway Patrol says that the fatal single-vehicle crash happened at around 5:10 a.m.

Reports say that an eastbound Ford E-350 van drove off the left side of the road and onto the inside dirt shoulder. Afterward, the van struck the marker post. The driver, a California man, attempted to correct but overestimated and reenter the roadway and then, ultimately overturn.

Officials say that the driver suffered minor injuries. Meanwhile, both of his passengers were not wearing seatbelts, the impact ejected both passengers out of the vehicle.

One passenger died at the scene, while paramedics transported the other man to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.

Authorities did not release the names of the victims at this time, pending notification of their families.

The NHP Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team is handling the incident.
