Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash in North St. Louis Involving City Garbage Truck

St. Louis, MO (February 13, 2025) – A garbage truck driver was hurt an d hospitalized Thursday morning after a deadly traffic crash on Florissant Avenue.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), the fatal collision happened at West Florissant and Arlington avenues

Reports say that the tragic crash in north St. Louis claimed one life and left another person injured. The collision occurred and involved a city garbage truck and a white car.

Authorities say that the white car crossed the center line while traveling in the opposite direction of the garbage truck. The truck driver attempted to steer away but overcorrected, causing the vehicle to overturn.

Emergency responders rushed the garbage truck driver, a veteran employee, to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Unfortunately, the driver of the white car was pronounced dead at the scene. A third vehicle sustained damage from crash debris, but its driver was unharmed.
