DUI Driver Involved in Fiery Collision near Palm Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (August 19, 2018) – Multiple people were injured in a suspected DUI crash on 5 Freeway, on Sunday morning.
According to reports from the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 7:40 AM near Palm Avenue. A minivan was engulfed in flames after it collided with a black sedan on the highway. One of the drivers was reportedly driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
The medics arrived at the scene to find both motorists with minor injuries. It is unclear if either driver required hospitalization, and no other information regarding their condition or identities was released by officials.
Water and gasoline were scattered on the roadway, and authorities performed a clearing operation in the No. 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway. No additional information was released to the public, as the authorities continue to investigate the collision.
