Seattle Police Chase Ends in Auto Accident on 23rd Avenue and Juskins Street

SEATTLE, WA (October 27, 2021) – Tuesday morning, a stolen bus crash on 23rd Avenue and Juskins Street led to injuries.

The incident happened just before 8:00 a.m. and it lasted for 15 minutes as officers tried to arrest the man.

According to reports, a male bus service employee stole a school bus. Then, he deliberately struck other vehicles while trying to escape the officers from Seattle Police Department.

At this time, the suspect received charges of vehicular assault and auto theft.

According to investigators, the man stole the empty bus while it was parked near South Horton Street and Colorado Avenue.

Then, the suspect driving at a speed of 50 mph got involved in several crash scenes in SoDo, Beacon Hill, and the Central District. Fortunately, no students and other passengers rode the bus when it was stolen.

When the police spotted the white vehicle, they attempted to stop it. However, the driver refused which pushed officers to chase him. Then, the driver failed to yield at a red light, hit a King County Metro bus and other vehicles. Eventually, the bus crashed into a construction site. Reports said that a light rail station was being constructed at 23rd Avenue and Judkins Street.

Then, the man escaped on foot but the police arrested him nearby.

Police urged anyone whose vehicles had been hit to contact 911 and report the incident.

The incident partially and fully closed several major roads. The closures include the northbound lanes of 23rd Avenue from Dearborn to King Street.
