Several People Injured after Rio Vista 4-Vehicle Crash

RIO VISTA, CA (July 2, 2019) – Several people were injured Monday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 12 east of Highway 160.

The California Highway Patrol said they received reports of the incident past 9:30 a.m. The crash involved two big rigs, a pickup truck, and another vehicle.

The pickup truck overturned as a result of the crash. The other vehicle got stuck underneath a big rig and trapped the 49-year-old woman driving the vehicle. First responders transported the woman to the hospital after a lengthy extraction. Seatbelts, airbags, and a little luck saved the driver as per CHP.

The woman sustained moderate injuries, while other involved parties sustained minor injuries.

The Rio Vista Fire Department, ground ambulances, and tow trucks also responded to the multi-vehicle crash.

Officials closed all lanes of Highway 12 at Jackson Slough Road, where an air ambulance helicopter landed at around 10 a.m. They reopened the highway at 11:45 a.m.

The investigation of the crash is ongoing.
