1 Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 99 and California Avenue

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 17, 2020) – Tuesday morning, a person suffered injuries in a multi-vehicle accident on Highway 99 and California Avenue.
 
The four-vehicle crash happened just after 11:00 a.m. on southbound Highway 99, south of California Avenue.
 
According to reports, a Peterbuilt hay truck headed south on Highway 99. Then, the driver stopped because of a prior non-injury crash that blocked one of the lanes. Also, a Chevrolet Silverado was stopped behind Mr. Diaz.
 
The CHP revealed that a Hino box truck slowed behind the Chevrolet when the vehicle a Freightliner truck rear-ended it. The crash pushed the box truck off the west side of the freeway, where it crashed into a chain-link fence.
 
Afterward, the Freightliner headed in a southerly direction and hit the back of the Chevrolet. Then, the Chevrolet was pushed forward into the rear of the Peterbuilt.
 
As a result, all four vehicles blocked two of the lanes on southbound Highway 99.
 
The driver of the Peterbuilt suffered pain but no one required hospitalization.
 
Meanwhile, the authorities diverted all southbound traffic off the freeway at California Avenue until the No. 1 lane reopened.
