Injuries Reported in Highway 17 Deadly Crash [Santa Cruz, CA]

Santa Cruz, CA (June 16, 2025) – Four people were hurt following a Highway 17 deadly crash Saturday night.

The fatal 3-vehicle crash happened before 10 p.m. at Sugarloaf Road.

According to CHP, a Honda Element driven by a 78-year-old Santa Cruz man entered oncoming traffic and crashed with a Tesla Model Y driven by a 19-year-old Antioch man.

Afterward, the Tesla was then rear-ended by a Honda Accord.

Sadly, the Santa Cruz man sustained fatal injuries and died despite the rescuers’ efforts to save him.

Four people sustained serious injuries and were transported.

In the meantime, the authorities are investigating the cause of the traffic crash.
