Several Injured in Encinitas Car Accident near Highway 101

ENCINITAS, CA (March 20, 2019) – Several people sustained injuries in a car accident that pushed a Porsche to the train tracks early Tuesday morning.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the collision was between a gray truck and the red sports car. First responders arrived to the scene near Highway 101 around 4:30 a.m.

The impact pushed the red sports car onto the train tracks. SDSO revealed that the occupants from both vehicles sustained injuries. Medics transported the victims to nearby hospitals. However, the number of parties involved remains unclear at this time.

Furthermore, the incident delayed the train service for almost two hours. Agencies stated that they stopped the Coaster and Amtrak Pacific Surfliner routes due to the stopped vehicle blocking the tracks.

Meanwhile, bus bridges connected commuters to their Coaster stops through North County Transit District (NCTD) and Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) buses.

State officials say they stopped Amtrak train 561 in Solana Beach for almost two hours. They resumed their services after 6:00 a.m.

SDSO came to the area and helped the NCTD to remove the car from the tracks.
