Injuries Reported in Alarming DUI Crash on Wingate Street and Grand Avenue [Covina, CA]

1 Person Arrested in Covina Auto Accident on Wingate Street and Grand Avenue

COVINA, CA (August 5, 2023) – Friday morning, authorities reported injuries following an alarming DUI crash on Wingate Street and Grand Avenue.

The incident involving multiple vehicles happened at around 11:30 a.m.

According to Sgt. Derek Gonzales, a Nissan Armada struck a vehicle at Wingate Street and Grand Avenue, a second vehicle at Banna Avenue and Cypress Street, and a third vehicle on Cypress Street and Dodsworth Avenue.

Then, the vehicle ran a red light, struck two more vehicles, and collided with an empty, parked ambulance before crashing into a cinder block wall separating a business park and an alley.

Moreover, responders transported the driver’s 6-year-old daughter, and a female occupant of a victim’s vehicle, to a hospital with unknown injuries. Also, authorities said that other occupants of the victim’s vehicles sustained injuries but were not transported to a hospital.

Furthermore, officers arrested the male driver of the Nissan Armada on suspicion of driving under the influence and child endangerment, and is being held with a bail set to $100,000.

At this time, the circumstances involved in the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
