1 Dead and 3 Injured in Gilroy Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 156 and Pacheco Creek Drive

 
GILROY, CA (July 27, 2021) – Saturday afternoon, an infant died in a semi-truck crash on Highway 156 and Pacheco Creek Drive.
 
The incident happened at around 1:20 p.m. when a semi-truck hit a car stopped for traffic. Moreover, the crash occurred on Highway 156, west of Pacheco Creek Drive.
 
According to the investigation, a 27-year-old Manteca man drove a westbound 2019 Freightliner Cascadia. Then, the traffic ahead of it slowed.
 
As a result, the truck crashed into the back of a 2020 Toyota Corolla. The impact pushed the Corolla into a 2021 Volvo VNL 760.
 
Moreover, the CHP confirmed that an 11-month-old boy from Waterford (Stanislaus County) in the Toyota died at the scene. Meanwhile, three adults in the same vehicle were transported to hospitals with minor injuries.
 
On the other hand, the Freightliner and the Volvo drivers suffered no injuries.
 
At this time, the authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. Thus, the authorities continue to investigate the crash.
 
Meanwhile, reports confirmed that the occupants of all three vehicles used seat belts.
 
The authorities urged any witnesses to call the Hollister-Gilroy CHP area office at 408-848-232.
