Ignacio Estrada Arrested in Tragic Crash on Forest Avenue [Palo Alto, CA]

Palo Alto, CA (May 02, 2025) On Wednesday evening, 52-year-old Ignacio Estrada of East Palo Alto was arrested after a tragic crash on Forest Avenue.

According to authorities, the fatal collision happened shortly after 9 p.m. near Forest and Lincoln Avenues.

Reports say that a suspected DUI driver struck and killed a woman in her 70s while she crossed the street.

First responders found the woman unconscious in the roadway and transported her to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver fled the scene but was later identified as Estrada. Police also linked Estrada to an earlier hit-and-run crash near Channing Avenue and Middlefield Road that caused no injuries.

Authorities arrested Estrada on the 1800 block of East Bayshore Road and booked him into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of vehicular manslaughter, DUI causing injury, and hit-and-run causing injury.

Police have not yet released the identity of the deceased victim.
