1 Person Dead in San Jose Auto Accident near Interstate 680 and Capitol Expressway

SAN JOSE, CA (September 11, 2024) – Tuesday morning, a horrific vehicle crash near Interstate 680 and Capitol Expressway killed one person.

The incident happened at around 11:40 a.m. near the Capitol Expressway on-ramp to northbound Interstate 680.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck a bicyclist for still unknown reasons.

Moreover, responders rushed the bicyclist to a hospital where the patient was later pronounced dead.

Furthermore, authorities confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was suspected of impairment.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the CHP continued to investigate the crash.
