1 Person Hurt in Bakersfield Auto Accident on Hughes Lane and Holden Way

BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 12, 2025) – Saturday night, a horrific two-vehicle crash on Hughes Lane and Holden Way killed one person.

The incident happened at around 8:50 p.m. at the intersection of Hughes Lane and Holden Way.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, a southbound SUV attempted to turn eastbound and collided with a northbound vehicle. Then, the force of the crash pushed the SUV to roll over, pinning a man beneath the vehicle.

Moreover, responders pronounced the pinned victim dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported a passenger of the vehicle to a local hospital with minor injuries. Also, authorities confirmed that the driver of the other vehicle was transported to a separate hospital with moderate injuries.

Furthermore, officers said that speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but drug or alcohol involvement is under investigation.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified. 

Due to limited information, the BPD continued investigating the crash.
