According to authorities, the two-vehicle crash on Interstate 55 happened around 8:14 p.m.

Reports say that a 22-year-old woman from Belknap, Illinois, rear-ended an SUV in the southbound lanes near the 83-mile marker.

The impact injured the 23-year-old SUV driver from Malden, along with her passengers—a 30-year-old man from Dexter and two young girls, ages 8 and 10.

Emergency responders transported all four to a hospital in Cape Girardeau with minor injuries.
