OCEANSIDE, CA (August 16, 2023) – Tuesday afternoon, a 16-month-old toddler died in a horrific pedestrian crash on 3200 San Tomas Drive.

A pickup truck hit and killed the toddler at about 3:39 p.m. in the 3200 block of San Tomas Drive, Jennifer Atenza with the Oceanside Police Department revealed.

According to reports, a 62-year-old driver traveled west in a white Ford F-150 on San Tomas Drive. Then, the vehicle crashed with the toddler who was walking in the roadway.

When first responders arrived, they attempted life-saving measures on the child. Unfortunately, the victim succumbed to injuries at the scene,

Meanwhile, the pickup driver, who also lives in the neighborhood, has been cooperative with the investigation.

Officers confirmed that driving under the influence nor speed were a factor in the crash.
