41-Year-Old Man Killed in Horrific Hit-and-Run Crash on Balls Ferry Road [Cottonwood, CA]

1 Dead in Cottonwood Pedestrian Accident on Balls Ferry Road and Trefoil Lane 

COTTONWOOD, CA (June 20, 2024) – Wednesday, a 41-year-old man died in a horrific hit-and-run crash on Balls Ferry Road.

The incident happened when an unknown driver a white Ford F350 traveled at about 3:00 a.m., southbound on Balls Ferry Road, north of Trefoil Lane, at an unknown high rate of speed. 

As the Ford navigated a sharp right turn, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the Ford struck a large tree log blocking access to nearby railroad tracks. The collision left the Ford disabled with the log partially lodged underneath.

As a result, the pedestrian was struck by the log and died from the impact. Following the crash, the driver fled the scene, abandoning the Ford.

The CHP believes the driver is a local resident and is seeking information from anyone who might have details about the incident. Those with information are encouraged to contact the investigating officer at 530-225-0500.
