1 Dead in Merced County Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 33 and Hulen Road

MERCED COUNTY, CA (June 26, 2023) – Sunday afternoon, a horrific 4-vehicle crash on Highway 33 and Hulen Road killed 1 person.

The crash involving four vehicles happened at about 1:50 p.m. on Highway 33, south of Hulen Road.

According to officers, the incident was a “non-contact hit and run” because the person who allegedly caused the crash didn’t strike anything and fled the scene.

Meanwhile, witnesses said that a dark blue or grey two-door Audi with tinted windows traveling south tried to pass a silver SUV.

Then, the Audi went into the path of a black pickup truck driving north. Afterward, the truck driver attempted to avoid the car but lost control, crashing with the SUV head-on.

As a result, the SUV was pushed onto the right side of the road where it caught fire. Meanwhile, the pickup truck overturned on the road.

Also, the authorities confirmed that the SUV driver succumbed to injuries at the scene.

Moreover, the 19-year-old driver and passenger in the truck sustained minor injuries.

Also, a southbound Mustang veered to avoid the other vehicles and fell into the ditch. Meanwhile, the 31-year-old driver sustained no injuries.

Moreover, the authorities continued to search for the hit-and-run driver.
