Horrific 4-Car Crash on Highway 4 Kills Victor Vigil [Antioch, CA]

Injuries Reported in Deadly Antioch Crash After Deputies End Pursuit

Antioch, CA (April 24, 2025) – 50-year-old Victor Vigil of Pittsburg was killed Tuesday evening after a horrific 4-car crash on Highway 4 that left others injured.

According to authorities, the fatal incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on the Highway 4-Highway 160 interchange in Antioch.

Reports say that Vigil died after crashing into oncoming traffic while driving the wrong way.

Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies ended a pursuit that began when Vigil failed to stop for a traffic violation near East 18th Street and Willow Avenue.

Vigil’s Lexus drove south in the northbound lanes and collided head-on with a Mercedes, severely injuring the driver, who was later airlifted to the ICU with multiple broken bones.

The crash triggered a chain reaction involving a Honda and a Dodge Durango. Two additional people sustained injuries and were hospitalized, while the Honda driver remained uninjured.

The California Highway Patrol, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, and District Attorney’s Office are investigating the incident. The crash forced the closure of eastbound Highway 4 near the Antioch Bridge on Wednesday morning.

Sweet Lawyers extend heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of Victor Vigil. We also wish strength and healing to those injured in this tragic incident.
