52-Year-Old North Hollywood Man Killed in Truck Crash near Laval Road
LEBEC, CA (September 6, 2018) – A man was killed early Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 5. The victim was later identified as 52-year-old Hmayak Yeghiazaryan of North Hollywood.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened shortly after 3:00 AM near the Grapevine Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility, south of Laval Road. Yeghiazaryan was driving a box truck when he struck the rear of a big rig.
The box truck driver sustained fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the semi-truck remained at the crash site and was reportedly unharmed in the collision.
Authorities believe that Yeghiazaryan was driving at an unsafe speed and was not paying attention when he collided with the big rig. Additional details will be released to the public following the conclusion of the investigation.
