Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 101 and Traffic Way [Atascadero, CA]

Man Hospitalized after Atascadero Car Accident

 
ATASCADERO, CA (April 4, 2019) – A man sustained injuries in a hit-and-run crash on Highway 101 in Atascadero on April 3.
 
The incident occurred northbound just south of Traffic Way shortly after 9:00 a.m. The CHP said that a 48-year-old male Atascadero resident in a Toyota Tacoma tried to exit at Traffic Way.
 
However, the Ford F-150 driver changed lane unsafely, hitting the Tacoma’s side. Furthermore, the Tacoma lost control and drove off the highway. After that, the vehicle crashed through a fence before hitting a tree. The car finally halted in the Denny’s parking lot.
 
According to some witnesses, the F-150 driver pulled over n the Traffic Way off-ramp. He then took some paperwork from the truck’s glove box before running toward El Camino Real.
 
Meanwhile, investigators revealed that the man left his ID, a laptop computer, and various other items. The authorities also found a mail with his full name, address, and date of birth.
 
Currently, CHP is searching for 39-year-old Richard Lawrence Gonzalez of Creston as the suspect in the incident.
 
Authorities are urging anyone who has information about Gonzalez’s to call the Templeton office of the California Highway Patrol at (805) 434-1822. Tipsters can also contact the CHP’s non-emergency dispatch center number at (805) 593-3333.
 
As a result of the crash, the Tacoma driver sustained moderate injuries in the collision. Medics transported the driver to a local hospital.
