Homeland Man Dies in Vehicle-Pedestrian Crash on Steinhoff Avenue

Homeland, CA (February 3, 2023) On Thursday evening, a fatal accident on Highway 74 claimed the life of a 48-year-old male pedestrian from Homeland.

CHP says that the deadly vehicle-pedestrian crash happened west of Steinhoff Avenue at around 6:30 p.m.

Reports say that the Homeland man attempting to cross the highway from the north shoulder to the southbound side. Unfortunately, a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Perris man was not able to avoid the man and fatally struck the pedestrian.

Authorities say that the vehicle was traveling at around 40 mph, and the driver had no time to avoid the man.

RCFD officials pronounced the man dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver did not suffer injuries and stayed at the scene.

Officials are investigating the vehicle-pedestrian crash and have not released additional information at this time.
