Highway 101 Rear-End Crash Kills 39-Year-Old Gilroy Man [San Jose, CA]

San Jose, CA (February 3, 2023) On Wednesday morning, a rear-end crash on northbound Highway 101 killed a 39-year-old man from Gilroy.

CHP says that the deadly multi-vehicle crash happened at around 5:55 a.m. on northbound US-101, just north of Story Road.

Reports say that a 19-year-old male driver from Gilroy was driving a 2004 Toyota that rear-ended the 2007 Toyota that the 39-year-old Gilroy man was driving.

The collision caused the 2004 Toyota to lose control and hit a big rig on the other lane. Authorities pronounced the 39-year-old man dead at the scene.

Meanwhile the 19-year-old man sustained moderate injuries and paramedics transported him to San Jose Regional Medical Center.

Moreover, officials say that all involved parties remained at the scene. Officials say that impairment did not play a factor in the multi-vehicle crash.
