51-Year-Old Man Killed in Car Accident on Mariposa Road Between Avenal and Mojave Streets
HESPERIA, CA (January 13, 2015) – Around 7:33 PM on Saturday night, officials reported a fatal head-on collision on Mariposa Road just south of Mojave Street.
A 51-year-old Pasadena man was driving northbound on Mariposa Road, when his dark-colored 2003 Buick veered into the southbound lanes, and hit a white 2015 Kia Forte that was traveling south on the road.
The Buick sustained major front damage, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from the crash. The Kia driver was transported to a local hospital by air ambulance for medical treatment.
Mariposa Road between Avenal and Mojave Streets remained closed for several hours after the crash for investigation, cleaning of debris, and transporting of the victims.
San Bernardino County Hesperia Sheriff’s Station and SB County Fire Department personnel responded to the incident, and the Hesperia Police Department MAIT is currently investigating the details of the crash.
