Car Overturns after Crash with Semi Truck on 15 Freeway in Hesperia

HESPERIA, CA (March 13, 2019) – A man was injured following a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Hesperia.

The crash happened around 9:19 a.m. on southbound 15 Freeway, about half a mile South of Main Street.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a silver Honda Civic was traveling southbound when for unknown reasons, it struck the rear driver side of a blue semi truck. The impact caused the sedan to overturn and block several lanes of traffic.

Several people stopped to check on the driver of the overturned vehicle. A registered nurse also pulled over and climbed through the chain-link perimeter fence along the freeway and assisted in getting the driver out of the vehicle.

The male driver of the Honda sustained a major gash over his eye and was complaining of neck pain. He was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital for proper treatment.

Southbound traffic was backed up for several miles due to the accident blocking all lanes. A CHP officer used his patrol vehicle to push the vehicle onto the shoulder, allowing another lane of traffic to open.

The driver of the semi told Victor Valley News he was on his way to park his truck at the nearby Pilot. He said he was in the slow lane doing about 55 mph when suddenly his truck jolted. He looked in his mirror and saw the car flipping over. He was shaken up but uninjured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Station.

It is crucial to have your full attention when driving. Always stay alert and look out for other vehicles on the road. It is also best to drive the designated speed limits instead of driving at high speeds in a high-volume traffic. Keeping this in mind will save you and others from unnecessary expenses, trouble, injuries, or even death.
