Henry Ruggs III Faces Charges in Las Vegas Fatal DUI Crash
Las Vegas, NV (November 02, 2021) – On Tuesday, a 23-year-old Toyota driver dies and police arrested 22-year-old Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III in a DUI crash on Rainbow Boulevard.
The officers received the crash report at around 3:39 a.m. near Spring Valley Parkway, wherein a a Toyota Rav4 and a Chevrolet Corvette were involved.
A preliminary investigation shows Ruggs’ car rear-ended the Toyota, killing the unidentified 23-year-old female driver.
Meanwhile, Ruggs and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Kiara Je’nai Kilgo-Washington suffered serious injuries.
The authorities said Ruggs remained on the scene of the crash and showed signs of impairment.
As a result, the police arrested Ruggs with charges of DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, resulting in substantial bodily harm; and reckless driving with death or substantial bodily harm.
They held him without bail and is due in court Wednesday morning.
Moreover, investigating officers said the Toyota driver was northbound on Rainbow in the right lane.
At the same time, the Corvette driven by Ruggs was also northbound at a high rate of speed in the center lane.
Ruggs’ veered into the right lane and crashed with the Toyota.
Officers said the Toyota driver was trapped in the driver’s seat.
Clark County firefighters immediately responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. However, despite their efforts to save the driver, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Emergency responders took Ruggs to University Medical Center to be treated for non-fatal injuries. Police continue to investigate this fatal incident.
