50-Year-Old Man Struck and Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on El Camino Avenue

Sacramento, CA (September 1, 2020) – On Sunday, a 50-year-old man from Hemet died in a pedestrian hit-and-run crash on El Camino Avenue.

About 9 p.m. on Sunday, the California Highway Patrol received a report of a vehicle that struck a pedestrian west of Howe Avenue.

Upon arrival, the authorities learned that the victim was walking in a southerly direction at El Camino’s eastbound lanes when a silver Dodge pickup truck heading east hit him.

The firefighters pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Sacramento County Coroner’s office will release his identity once his family has been notified.

Moreover, the CHP said the Dodge immediately fled the scene after the incident. It was last seen heading south on Howe from El Camino.

Witnesses remained at the scene, as the CHP investigates the cause of the collision.

Investigators at the North Sacramento Area CHP office are looking for the involved pickup. Possibly a RAM 1500, which appeared to be a 2013 to 2018 model.

Furthermore, the CHP said the pickup truck is believed to be damaged on its front passenger side near the headlight and grille area.

Meanwhile, please call Officer A.J. McTaggart at 916-348-2317 if you have further details about the fatal incident.
