HAYWARD, CA – Woman Injured in Crash on 880 Freeway

One Hurt After Carjacking Suspect Crashes Into Several Cars in Hayward

 
HAYWARD, CA (February 22, 2019) – One person was injured after an armed carjacking suspect led police on a chase and plowed into multiple vehicles on the 880 Freeway near West Winton Avenue Wednesday.
 
The vehicular mayhem occurred around 5:45 p.m. when, according to officers, the suspect kidnapped a female driver and took her vehicle in the 3900 block of Trust Way.
 
Ten minutes later, officers found the vehicle heading northbound on the 880 Freeway and a pursuit unfolded. The chase happened during heavy traffic and lasted for only about a mile when the suspect struck five cars near West Winton Avenue.
 
The suspect was subsequently arrested and the only one injured was the carjacking victim who sustained only minor injuries.
 
All lanes were reopened by 8 p.m.
