2 Hurt in Redding Auto Accident on Hilltop Drive

REDDING, CA (June 14, 2020) – Wednesday afternoon, authorities arrested Hal Kimberly Sutherland after a head-on DUI crash on Hilltop Drive.

The police took 33-year-old Hal Kimberly Sutherland into custody for DUI, fleeing the scene of a collision and violating terms of his post-release community supervision.

The incident occurred about 3:30 p.m. on the 200 block of Hilltop Drive. According to the police, a white van traveled north on Hilltop Drive. At the same time, a black Ford F150 headed southbound. Then, the truck driver turned left and crashed with the van head-on. As a result, both vehicles were disabled.

Afterward, the truck driver fled from the crash scene. Meanwhile, the van driver and passenger sustained lacerations. Responders took the driver to the hospital.

Then, the authorities asked the assistance of CHP Northern Division Air Operations. The team managed to locate Hal Kimberly Sutherland several blocks away from the crash. Moreover, the police revealed that he changed his clothes to disguise.

In an interview, Sutherland admitted that he drove the Ford F150 during the crash. Upon evaluation, the officers determined that the suspect was under the influence of a combination of illegal drugs.

Habits like distracted driving, speeding, and DUI can lead to road accidents. If you find yourself unable to safely operate a vehicle, you always have other options. For example, you can call a taxi service, Lyft, or Uber. Doing so helps to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

California Injury Crashes

Each year, around 20-50 million people are injured or become disabled due to an auto crash. Unfortunately, not everyone is properly informed about the things you should do next after an injury crash.

The most valuable step you can take in response to a vehicle crash is hiring a personal injury attorney. Personal injury attorneys prioritize your recovery while securing your future from further losses a severe accident can bring.

“A common misconception is that personal injury lawyers don’t care. That is simply not true. Injury lawyers care about and want justice for their clients. We are driven by the desire to make our clients whole again,” says Steve Baric of Sweet Lawyers, an attorney practicing for over 40 years.
