80-Year-Old Man Killed and 2 Women Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash at Colima Road and Avalo Drive in Hacienda Heights
HACIENDA HEIGHTS, CA (January 31, 2018) – An 80-year-old man was killed and two women were injured in a two-vehicle crash at an intersection in Hacienda Heights on Wednesday.
California Highway Patrol were alerted about a crash at around 1:40 PM at the intersection of Colima Road and Avalo Drive. The accident involved a Toyota Tacoma and an SUV.
Authorities concluded that the Toyota was driving eastbound down the hill when the elderly driver lost control of the vehicle. The Toyota struck a tree before crossing the wrong way, slammed into the SUV, and then crashed into a wall.
Paramedics arrived and pronounced the elderly man dead at the scene while the two women were transported to a hospital for treatment. Aside from the female driver being in her 20’s, other details about the women including their health conditions were not immediately disclosed.
Debris was scattered around the accident site. CHP was forced to close off all westbound lanes at Hacienda Boulevard.
