Driver Injured in Pasco Deadly DUI Crash
Pasco, WA (December 29, 2024) – Guadalupe Vergara Gonzalez, 39, of Pasco, and her two sons, a 6-year-old and a 22-month-old, were killed in an Interstate 182 collision Friday night.
WSP officers said Rodrigo Torres-Gonzalez, 42, was driving the vehicle wherein Guadalupe and their two sons were passengers. Sadly, their vehicle was struck head-on by a wrong-way driver, Zachery Schwartz, 37, of Yakima.
Guadalupe Vergara Gonzalez and her 22-month-old were killed at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, the 6-year-old was seriously injured and was airlifted to a hospital where he died.
Rodrigo Torres-Gonzalez was also taken to the hospital.
Schwartz sustained a broken arm and wrist, with no life-threatening injuries. Investigators believed he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
He is booked at the Franklin County Jail with charges of vehicular homicide and a DUI.
