LADOT Traffic Officer Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Columbus Avenue
VAN NUYS, CA (July 27, 2018) – A Los Angeles Department of Transportation traffic officer was killed Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle near Columbus Avenue.
According to Los Angeles police, the incident took place at about 7:20 AM in the 15200 block of Victory Boulevard. 45-year-old Los Angeles resident Gregory Park was issuing a parking citation when he was hit by a vehicle involved in a collision.
The severely injured officer was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. A statement issued by the LADOT confirmed that Park was the second traffic officer killed while serving the city since 1997.
An investigation is ongoing to determine liabilities and identify possible contributing factors. There were no additional details provided to the public at this time.
