LUBBOCK, TX (January 1, 2025) – Monday morning, 36-year-old Gregg Vargas sustained injuries in an alarming semi-truck crash on 4300 North Loop 289.

The incident happened just before 10:45 a.m. in the 4300 block of North Loop 289.

Authorities report that 36-year-old Vargas was working near his semi-truck in a convenience store parking lot when the accident occurred. According to police, a 76-year-old driver, William Nelson, was reversing his SUV from a parking space when it struck Vargas and the semi-truck.

Vargas sustained serious injuries and was transported to UMC for treatment.
