Young Cyclist Seriously Injured in Collision with Car in Bay Terraces Neighborhood
SAN DIEGO, CA (June 11, 2018) – A young bicyclist was hospitalized following a bicycle collision on Alsacia Street, early Monday morning, in San Diego’s Bay Terraces neighborhood.
According to the San Diego police, the collision took place shortly before 7:20 AM in the 6900 block of Alsacia Street, just north of State Route 54. A driver was attempting to make a right turn when the girl appeared in front of his vehicle.
The injured girl, a student at Bell Middle School, was transported to the Rady Children’s Hospital. She suffered a serious leg injury, possibly a broken femur, while the driver was reportedly unharmed in the collision.
The unidentified driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation, where it was determined that the juvenile was riding on the wrong side of the road and ran into the vehicle. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
