PLACERVILLE, CA (April 13, 2022) – Monday night, a 17-year-old girl died in a car crash near Omo Ranch Road and Mt Aukum Road.
 
The crash happened just after 5:00 p.m. near Omo Ranch Road and Mt Aukum Road.
 
According to reports, an impaired 17-year-old Somerset girl drove a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. Then, she lost control and came to rest upside down in a pond near Omo Ranch Road.
 
After the crash, the driver managed to free herself from the wreckage. However, she failed to help her 17-year-old Somerset passenger.
 
Luckily, a passerby stopped and helped in freeing the passenger.
 
Meanwhile, officers confirmed that the driver wore a seatbelt while the passenger did not.
 
Responders transported the driver to Marshall Hospital for medical treatment. Moreover, they took the passenger to UC Davis Medical Center where she later died.
 
Furthermore, officers arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence.
