Jazmin Paramo Arrested in Fatal DUI Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 65
STRATHMORE, CA (August 4 , 2019) – Four people died following a DUI wrong-way crash Sunday morning just after 2:00 a.m. on Highway 65 at Avenue 196.
According to the CHP, two married couples were driving back home to Porterville on Harley-Davidson motorcycles, each couple on one motorcycle.
24-year-old Jazmin Paramo drove the wrong way down Highway 65. As a result, she slammed her Infiniti SUV head-on into the two bikes.
The four riders were killed in the crash. They were identified as Gilbert Vargas, 47, Rita Vargas, 40, Jose Vargas, 43, and Mitzy Rodriguez, 39. All victims were Porterville residents.
An air ambulance transported Paramo to Kaweah Delta Hospital. Police later booked her into Tulare County Jail and charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and DUI. Her bail is set at $100,000.
According to jail records, she had a blood alcohol count of .20, which more than twice the legal limit.
Gilbert Vargas was one of the founders of the Cochinos Motorcycle Club. Jose Vargas was the treasurer. They are not related but were great friends.
