48-Year-Old Male Victim Pronounced Dead, 34-Year-Old Man Injured after Multi-Vehicle Collision near Landfill in Livermore

LIVERMORE, CA (April 1, 2020) – On March 29, a multi-vehicle crash killed 48-year-old Gilbert Chang and injured 34-year-old Dustin Holland on Vasco Road.

Authorities first received reports on Sunday night around 9:00 p.m. Emergency personnel arrived to the area on North Vasco Road near the Republic Services Vasco Road Landfill, shortly after.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Chang of Brentwood, was riding a red 2018 Ducati motorcycle north on North Vasco Road. For reasons still unknown, he then veered across the double-yellow lines and into the southbound lanes.

Chang then crashed head-on with Holland of Livermore, who was driving a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer in the southbound lanes.

The impact of the crash threw Chang off of his motorcycle before striking the windshield of the Chevy.

When the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department arrived at the scene, one of its personnel declared Gilbert Chang dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, Holland sustained serious injuries in the collision. He was later transported to Eden Medical Center for further treatment. However, there has been no update on his current condition.

The incident also led authorities to close North Vasco Road for several hours during the clearing operation. At this time, the collision remains under active investigation.

No further details have been released.

Our hearts and sympathies are with the family of Gilbert Chang during this difficult time.
