Injuries Reported in Cashmere Head-On Accident on Highway 2
CASHMERE, WA (April 3, 2022) – Early Saturday, Gerardo Morales-Gonzalez and Samuel Villachavez suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 2.
The incident happened when 23-year-old Gerardo Morales-Gonzalez drove a 2005 Chevrolet Classic sedan east on Highway 2. Then, he struck 26-year-old Renee E. Reeves driving a westbound 2011 Honda Pilot.
According to reports, Reeves stopped in the left turn lane to Aplets Way. However, Gonzalez crossed the center line and crashed with Reeves head-on.
As a result, responders transported Gonzalez and his 24-year-old passenger, Samuel Villachavez, to Central Washington Hospital.
Also, the vehicles blocked the eastbound and westbound lanes.
Trooper John Bryant said, “The driver of the Honda Pilot stopped in the left turn lane to make a turn onto Aplets Way. The Chevy sedan crossed over the center lane and struck the Pilot head-on. Post impact, both vehicles ended up blocking both the westbound and eastbound lanes.”
Moreover, officers charged Gonzalez with DUI and vehicular assault.
Bryant added, “Gerardo Morales-Gonzalez of Wenatchee and his passenger, 24-year-old Samuel Villachavez were transported to Central Washington Hospital. The driver of the Pilot, fortunately, 26-year-old Renee Reeves of Wenatchee was not injured.”
Villachavez stayed at the hospital with a broken femur.
At 5:11 a.m., Highway 2 reopened.
