Big Rig Driver George Flores Injured in Highway 35 Fatal Collision [Aransas County, TX]

Aransas County, TX (July 5, 2024) – George Flores, a  53-year-old big rig driver from Louise, was injured following a HIghway 35 fatal collision Wednesday afternoon.

It was about 1:30 p.m. on July 3 when a 2004 Freightliner 18-wheeler driven by George Flores was traveling north on the freeway. 

At the same time, a 2015 Honda Pilot, driven by a 76-year-old woman from Lake Charles, Louisiana, was traveling south. 

Suddenly, the Honda hydroplaned into the northbound lane and struck the front left of the big rig with the driver’s side. The 18-wheeler was then sent into the grass off the roadway and the Honda ended up back in the southbound lane.

The Honda driver was trapped in the driver’s seat and died at the crash scene. The passenger, a 76-year-old man also from Lake Charles, was airlifted to the Christus Spohn Shoreline Hospital with critical injuries.

Flores was transported to Rockport Emergency Room with minor injuries.

DPS officers are investigating the cause of the collision.
