Gennady Bolotsky Dead in Valley Village Hit-and-Run Accident

VALLEY VILLAGE, CA (June 24, 2019) – A 91-year-old Holocaust survivor died in a hit-and-run accident on Wilkinson Avenue on June 17.

According to a video, a white pickup truck struck Gennady Bolotsky while walking his dog. Bolotsky was in a crosswalk on Wilkinson Avenue at Magnolia Boulevard at 5:35 a.m. As a result, the impact threw Bolotsky’s body into the intersection.

The driver initially stopped for a split-second. However, the driver drove forward, rolling over Bolotsky’s body while escaping.

Shockingly, the recording shows a second pedestrian who also did not stop at the scene to help.

Responders transported Bolotsky to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

“(The driver) ran over him and stopped and then just made the decision to keep driving,” the victim’s granddaughter, Erica Bolotsky said.

“Escaped Nazi occupation, everything was (against him) and this is how he went,” Bolotsky added. “None of us can put these pieces together.”

Police did not release any other information regarding the accident at this time. However, the authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Valley Traffic Division Officer Fredo at 818-644-8029. In addition, anyone can call Officer Reyes at 818- 644-8032.

The city offered a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these deadly hit-and-run drivers.
